About Sharon Wild

Melbourne based Wine Communicator, Number Cruncher, Audrey’s Mum & Aldi catalogue connoisseur.”

I am a wine educator, writer, speaker, and all-round wine lover with three decades of local and international wine industry experience.

I have engaged in freelance wine writing projects such as contributing feature articles to wine magazines and copy-writing for a host of wine entities. I have organised and hosted wine tastings (such as wine options games and masterclasses) for a wide range of corporate entities and wine companies. I have also taught a multitude of wine courses; from basic wine appreciation classes to the internationally-certified WSET’s (which I re-introduced to Sydney in 2001).

Other wine industry roles have included; Asia Pacific Brand Manager with a portfolio of Italian Wines, Fine Wine Consultant with a French Riviera based superyacht provisioning company, Brand Manager for a leading Margaret River winery (2010-2013) and stints in wine retail in both the UK and Australia.

I was a Len Evans Tutorial Scholar in 2006 (deemed ‘the most exclusive wine school in the worldwww.lenevanstutorial.com.au). I have judged on the official Australian wine show circuit and on magazine and other industry panels. I have also engaged in Master of Wine (MW) studies and was the first Australian woman to pass the tasting part of the MW exam in 2000. Attaining this qualification is at the top of my bucket-list.

I hold a Master of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Arts in Design in Advertising from Curtin University in Perth. I worked in Audit & Business Growth services with a Big 4 Chartered Accounting Firm from 2005 to 2008, specialising in the wine industry sector and currently provide bookkeeping services for a couple of medium sized businesses.

And I can be spotted at my local Aldi on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
